To the Membership of South Plains Nurse Practitioners Association:
I have been honored to serve as your president this year but the greatest honor is to be able represent the NP’s of this area at the state and national level.
As the end of the year quickly approaches there are some very exciting things coming up. At the upcoming meeting, Oct 15th, we as an organization will vote to determine who will be named the South Plains NP of the year. I was honored to receive this award the first time it was awarded, so I speak from experience, this is a special award.
We have two nominees this year and I am attaching the letter of nomination for you to review prior to the meeting next week so you have a chance to decide who you want to vote for. Our nominees this year are Katie Baccus and Maribel Castillo. Both of these professionals represent our profession with the upmost dignity and excellence and I am excited for the possibility to honor both of them.
We have a full slate of offices that will be presented by the nominating committee at the October meeting. The officer nominations will be posted for 30 days and we will vote at the November meeting. If there is anyone else that is interested in running for office for 2025 you must make that desire known by the close of this meeting as nominations will be closed at that time.
Our scholarship will be awarded on the 15th as well. We as an organization have dedicated ourselves to support education in the form of continuing education as well as furthering your education. We are excited to announce the scholarship recipient at this meeting.
Just a quick reminder of upcoming events:
November 19th we will meet at LCU in the nursing building. We are still looking for NP’s and NP students to make a short 10-15 minute presentation on your research or something that is exciting in your chosen focus or practice. The organization will be providing the meal.
December 7th 2:00 to 4:00 will be the Christmas/end of year party at the Board and Brush. Address 2604 Boston. Please RSVP as soon as possible. You are welcome to bring a guest but the association will only pay for the member’s project.
Again, thank you each for allowing me to serve you and this organization this year.
